Meta AI vs. EU Regulation

Due to complex EU regulations, Meta AI is only partially available in Germany and not yet fully launched across the EU. For instance, features like integration with Ray-Ban smart glasses are still missing. According to Meta’s Public Policy Director, Semjon Renz, Europe has over 100 tech laws enforced by more than 270 regulators, creating significant fragmentation. Though not all laws target AI specifically, many still apply, leading to overlapping oversight. Renz warns of a growing digital divide between Europe and more agile markets like the U.S. and China—a challenge not just for Meta, but for all tech companies operating in the region.
